Welcome to JOURNAL JAM where we will pull prompts and paint in response for as long as we feel like. Please note that I can’t help with technical difficulties during the live stream. Most of us find that having a free account with Vimeo and then logging in helps with things such as access chat. Refreshing your browser or turning down the stream resolution (look for the little gear in the lower right-hand side of the screen) solve most streaming issues.
Replays will be available on YouTube within a matter of a few days. Find me here: http://youtube.com/effythewild
Show off what you made over here: http://facebook.com/groups/wilderhood

Two-page spread was pre-gessoed. 🙂
1.0 Add squares of paint in any colour.
1.1 *Impulse* Rolled the dice – Red! Used Quinacridone Magenta with Squares stencil from StrumpetStencils (Find these on Etsy).
(Dice card colours are: 1. Red, 2. Blue, 3. Yellow ,4. Green, 5. Purple, 6. Orange)
1.5 *Impulse* rolled the dice to add more colour – Yellow! Used Hansa Yellow Light.
2.0 Add a meaningful phrase or song lyric… “I’m lost but I’m hopeful” – “I’m high but I’m grounded” – “Everything is going to be fine, fine, fine” scribble writing in white posca pen.
Scott Hellman – cover of Alanis Morissette
3.0 Quick draw a Flower! Painted flower outline with Carbon Black.
3.5 *Impulse* added two more flowers. 🙂
4.0 Add love hearts.
5.0 Draw a face.
5.5 *Impulse* Stabilo All pencil to add face – incorporating it into the existing design. Painted face with white gesso. This activates the stabilo but “don’t stress”.
No more prompts for Effy – moved into tending as there was so much going on already with the spread.
A. Glazed the flower petals with the Quinacridone Magenta.
*Inspiration from chat on Vimeo – « Girl with the Golden Eyes » by Sixx:A.M.
B. Added gold eyes, other gold accents in the hair.
C. Added another flower to replace the one that got covered up.
D. Glazed face with Transparent Red Iron Oxide. Dry.
E. Added clear gesso – just to the face.
F. Then Effy used Prismacolor pencils in browns on the face to add in details, including changing the eyes.
G. Then glazed again with the Transparent Red Oxide. Then added back in details with the gold, including adding gold where the face has highlights.
H. Then glazed the background with Turquoise Phthalo. Because, Turquoise Phthalo is life. 😉
And the magic of Journal Jam interpreted through Effy presented us with a beautiful Tahitian goddess!
